Very nice collectible rare book.
This is the unpublished conclusion to The Once and Future King. Prologue by Sylvia Townsend Warner and illustrated by Trevor Stubley. The book opens as King Arthur prepares for his final battle. Merlyn reappears to complete Arthur's education. As in The Sword and The Stone, the wizard demonstrates ethics and politics by transforming Arthur into various animals. The last chapter takes place just hours before Arthur's final battle. He no longer wants to battle after all he has learned from Merlyn.
This manuscript was discovered after University of Texas Press purchased the bulk of White's personal papers and manuscripts. Subsequently, U. of Texas prepared the manuscript for publication in 1977. This copy is an excellent addition to any literature library.
