This is a collectible hardcover with dust jacket. 1984 Naval Institute Press. NOT a true first edition, this is an early 1984 print. It is very clean and still crisp inside. Pages clean and unmarked. The dust jacket is clean and shiny front and back BUT is neatly price clipped inside from jacket cover. No other marks etc. Red cloth hardcover boards under jacket are very clean with only a hint of shelf wear. Excellent collectible for any fiction library.
This is a true collectible, even though it is not a first edition, because it is Tom Clancy's 1984 debut novel. It is an espionage thriller that was later adapted for film and is the first fictional work the Naval Institute published, and still its most successful publication. The Hunt For Red October launched Clancy's career and President Ronald Reagan helped to fuel the initial success when he called the book a "perfect yarn".
This excellent copy is a must addition for any Clancy fan and thriller fiction library. Thank you for looking
